Vista internet explorer stopper

Windows Vista IE. Sign in to vote. IE7 usually works perfectly. Upon opening 2 or more TAB windows the system shortly becomes unstable. Most of the time - within 5 to 10 seconds I will get the seemingly inevitable "Internet Explorer has Stopped Working" error, This will eventually restart IE7 on the first occurence of this error. On subsequent occurrences of this error it simply gives the same error and shuts down IE7 without restarting it.

A restart of the computer will allow the first occurrence scenario to happen once again. The actual web pages are apparently not the source of the problem either. These are major news network web sites such as www. Am running the latest Avast anti-virus probram. Have tried disabling it - yet the problem persists.

Have run the recovery on Microsoft Office applications - and again, didn't fix this. Have scanned entire system with Microsoft One Care. Allowed it to fix the minor things it found, but still the problem persists. Resetting security options in IE7 doesn't help. Even ran CCleaner and although it cleared a few orphaned registry entries the IE7 problem persists.

I've done every step Microsoft has documented on their support site. Short of returning the notebook to Lenovo there appears to be nothing further I can do. I am not going to wipe the system out again without absolute assurance it will do some good.

I have access to 3 more identical Lenovo Y machines that are still in the factory box. Will test these as they are setup right out of the box and report back on the IE7 problem. Meanwhile, does anyone have any meaningful suggestions? Apparently this "IE has Stopped Working" error is rather prolific and everyone and their brother has ideas - but no true cause and effect, and no true solution.

It is time for Microsoft to figure this out. At least provide a more meaningful error message that points to the source of problem. Sunday, March 9, PM. Friday, March 21, PM. Tuesday, March 11, AM. Friday, March 14, AM.

I tried repairing Office and disabling phishing filter under advanced on internet options. None of those tricks worked. All i had to do was reset my browser settings back to default. I am also sure this issue came up after I installed Office You rock! Desktop Support here, spent an hour trying to fix this for a user in my office, your solution working right away.

None of this worked. I wish I would have went with the Mac. The 'Reset' method seems to have worked for me although for some reason I had to do it twice. Personally I use Firefox 2. I only use IE when I must. This is purely personal choice and because I used to move from Windows PC to Linux boxes and liked having the same browser and being able to share bookmarks. Thanks for your posting on the internet explorer problem. I just bought this thing and it kept on shutting off.

I was so close to taking it back. Giving the instructions probably just saved my life from my wife. The computer was an early mothers day gift. Thanks again. Thank you!! Gosh the pc worked for the day and then it got all tempremental. It worked for me: Only Having IE "Run as Administrator" did not work, but after i have rested the Advance options it seems to have worked for now. Will keep you all posted if I have anything else later. Removing Omnipage from start up worked for me!

Can still use the program without problems, and who needs it running in the background anyway??? Wow - thanks for the great tip. It was so frustrating not being able to get online - even though the Windows update Manager seemed to be getting online access! The reset button worked like a charm. Peter, Thanks a million for that blog, I was wasting lot of time, while I was in a hurry , yes it worked. Problem : I tried to install weather. That's it and Problem solved, Thanks peter and Good Luck to you.

My name is Lamonda and i spent hours trying to figure out why my Internet Explorer suddenly stopped working after installing the newest security updates. I tried all of your suggestions and it STIll did not work. I even tried installing Firefox and it would not connect either. None of these methods worked for me I just went back to the last restore point where I could remember doing an update, then BAM I got internet up again.

You saved my computer!! Thanks, I was just about to throw it out the window. Worked perfectly for me! Thanks, I was about to throw it out the window! Thanks Peter! This bug rendered my claptop practically useless, except for yahoo. Dont know why yahoo was working, but it wont open any other site. Now it's working again, yehey! Hi Peter. Thanks so much for your help. But hitting the Reset button cannot do anything to run my browser. I believed that it was the Trend Micro PCCillin that's blocking my browser to connect to the internet because after unistalling it and shifted to Norton Internet Security , i was able to connect to the internet again.

Explorer the dialog. Disable all the extensions, restart IE7 and test. This disable will keep the extension turned off. Bad extension found. Once you know the publisher you know where to complain. A Cates.

I know barely anything about computers, and my internet browser stopped working - I had a hunch is was because of Vista, found your "fix" and it's now working!!!! I really appreciate you putting this fix out there for folks like me.

You've saved me so much time and money! Thanks, man.. It worked Hopefully is will work and i do not need to reset it again. Disabled it and re-booted and all is now fine; except I need toget an OmniPage update My new Vista Home Premium PC was set up in August and worked fine until a few days ago when it said I had a local network connection but no Internet conection.

This happens when the PC is first turned on for the day. It can be temporarily fixed by selecting the "network adapters" in the "device manager" and clicking disable then clicking inable and waiting a few seconds. It will also start working if you reset tha IP number. It only lasts until the PC is shut down. I have found no permanant fix and don't know why this happens everyday. I tried all the suggestions ans came up with nothing. So far it is only saying windows stopped working and is restarting auto when I go to apple.

I've got IE unable to find any internet connection, meanwhile firefox is connecting fine. Tech support says they can't figure it out, and want me to reformat my hard drive and start over. I'd rather not do that.

Any thoughts? It is a daily inconvenience but it always gets IE's internet connection back. To reset the network adapter: 1. Click to open Network Connections 2. Its submitted by organization in the best field.
