Thread starter hsmauberly Start date Oct 20, Hello, New to the forum, and hoping this venue will help enhance my AV experience. A newer collector of blu ray discs, and fond of the international releases we sometimes do not get in North America.

I recently purchased a used Pioneer BDP which was stated to have a modification to region free status. Unfortunately, I've only been able to play one region B blu ray disk, while the other region B disks will not play.

In addition, region A disks by default lead to a screen that say the disk is not compatible with the player. Did I by accident press the appropriate sequence of buttons on the remote to allow the one region B disk to play? I was not given any hack codes or button sequences to access a menu to change regions. For anyone that has had a modification to their Pioneer blu ray players to allow playing of multi-region blu ray disks, please reach out via this thread or AVforums.

Thanks much!!!! You sure the seller didn't mean region free on DVD? It's DVD playback that's divided into regions. BD playback is divided by zones. Multi-region players are quite common but multi-zone is more rare. Maybe the disc from zone B that worked was not region locked per se, i. Alternatively, maybe your player is indeed set for zone B but the player doesn't support the foreign disc codec in which case the disk also can't be played.

For instance, some North American players can't play i50 video popular elsewhere. Thanks, guy! No, the seller was clear it could play blu rays for all three zones, and DVDs from all regions. The only way this is possible is with the after market hardware upgrade, which was stated it had.
